Mütze By Ashley was developed and conceived by Ashley Sasser Gunson. Like many great ideas, Mütze got started through a family tradition. While many people spend the Christmas shopping season in malls looking to buy gifts, it was tradition in Ashley's family to hand-make them. Needing to create a gift for her nephew, Ashley decided on a whim to craft him a hand-knit hat—the first of many hand-knit hats to come.

The hat was a hit. So much so that Ashley was soon knitting for hours a day creating hats for her friends and relatives. To help pass the time, she started teaching a group of her closest friends to knit. The group, which became known as the Hookers, would regularly meet at Ashley's apartment to knit, dine, and chat. Through her knitting group and creating hats for others, Ashley was inspired to make knitting her life's passion. She decided to start a business that would permit her to design and create hand-knit hats for everyone. Thus, Mütze (German for hat) was born.

Today all Mütze hats are designed and created with only the finest yarns. Thorough attention to detail goes into each. Ashley's hats, especially the ‘Scarf Hat' have now been featured in many publications, including Artichokes & Co. and Las Vegas Home & Design.
